About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Personal Assistant to support John, a 13-year-old with a learning disability, to enjoy full and active access to his local community.

This is a highly active, out and about role. Most support will take place outside the home, making the most of whatever the day brings.

-

What You’ll Be Doing

Support will focus on community access and shared activities, including:

• Going out to local shops

• Purchasing toys and DVDs

• Going for walks

• Visiting local attractions and places of interest

• Encouraging independence, confidence, and enjoyment while out and about

No two days are the same – this role suits someone energetic who enjoys being busy and engaged throughout the day.

-

Benefits:

As an employed personal assistant, you will be eligible for free membership to the Independent Living Group. Benefits include:

• Eligibility to sign up for the Blue Light Card for only £4.99 which gives you access to a large range of discounts across retail, leisure, and other services at companies nationwide

• Counselling helpline, legal helpline and personal financial support

• Shopping discounts platform

• My Mind Pal mental health app subscription

-

About You

• Friendly, patient, and dependable

• Comfortable supporting a young person in the community

• Confident managing outings and transitions

• Driver preferred (ability to transport John to activities is highly beneficial)

• Experience supporting children or young people with learning disabilities is desirable, but not essential

-

An enhanced DBS check will be required, and suitable safeguarding awareness is essential due to John’s age.
