I’m a 28-year-old man living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), looking for a reliable and proactive Personal Assistant to support me in living an independent and fulfilling life at home and in the community.

This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll be supporting me across all aspects of daily life.

About the Role

You will provide support with:

• Personal care: hoisting, dressing, toileting, showering, and daily stretching.

• Health support: ventilation equipment, standing wheelchair, and weekly swimming.

• Domestic tasks: meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a tidy environment.

• Social activities: attending events, outings, and occasional sailing support.

• General support: shopping, organisation, working from home, and lifting heavier items when needed.

About You

• Full UK or EU driving licence (automatic) – essential for using my Motability vehicle for some activities

• Experience with manual handling preferred (training provided)

• Enjoys cooking and preparing healthy meals

• Positive, reliable, and flexible (including some evenings/weekends)

• Comfortable supporting with personal care

An interest in fitness or sport would be beneficial, as you’ll be supporting physiotherapy routines.

Working Hours

• 35 hours per week

• Shifts between 7:00am – 8:00pm (flexibility to work outside these hours)

• Mix of 4–12 hour shifts across the week

• Flexible working pattern agreed in advance

If you’re looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference and build a positive working relationship, this could be a great opportunity.
