LARGE VINTAGE BROWN CASSEROLE DISH COOKING POT WITH LID. EXCELLENT CONDITION

This charming large vintage lidded casserole dish is a classic piece of kitchenware and is highly practical for not only casseroles but also for serving soups, curry, vegetables, etc.

Its generous 5 pint capacity means it is ideal for everyday family meals during the winter months, and would also make a lovely centre piece when entertaining.

It has two integral handles ensuring it is easy to move around, and a pretty finial on the top of its lid.

Believed to be made from stoneware, the exterior of this attractive cooking pot has a beautiful brown treacle glaze with a glossy finish. It could therefore also be used purely as a decorative item.

Its timeless classic design would look nice in either a traditional or modern environment.

There are no maker’s marks on the underside of either the dish or its lid - which is often the case with early vintage items. It could possibly either be by Pearsons of Chesterfield or Moira.

As is also common with such pottery, the surface of the dish and lid have a few small imperfections on them. However, this item is in excellent used condition for its age, with no chips or cracks or repairs.

The size of this dish is: approximately 19.0 cm high to the top of the central finial on its lid, and approximately 16.5 cm high to the top of the dish when the lid is removed. The top outer diameter of the dish is approximately 19.0 cm. The two side handles project by approximately 2.5 cm each.
