VINTAGE GOLD LLOYD LOOM STYLE SMALL OTTOMAN STORAGE CHEST.

This is an opportunity to acquire a complete authentic Lloyd Loom style small rectangular ottoman which still retains its original paintwork and upholstery – all in very good clean solid used condition.

Evocative of a bygone era, this classic timeless piece of furniture is sturdy and comfortable to sit on, and although intended for use in a bedroom would be equally useful for storage elsewhere around the home.

I don’t know whether this handy item was made by W. Lusty & Sons Ltd. or another maker as I can’t find any maker’s marks. However, this is definitely a quality piece which was manufactured in the early 1930’s in the classic Lloyd Loom style.

Ottomans such as this are frequently sadly now looking rather worse for wear – or have been badly upcycled.

However, the pretty storage box being offered for sale here has been well cared for and only lightly used, having been kept in a spare bedroom. Hence its condition is remarkably good given it was made in the early 20th century, and is ready to use.

There are no repairs, replacements, modern additions or broken parts on this item. Nor are there any rips or missing areas on its original upholstery, which is an attractive sophisticated gold floral design. There is a small mark towards the front right hand corner of the upholstered lid, possibly where the old glue has seeped through; however, this does not detract from the overall look of this classic piece. The robust frame and sides are in very good order and retain their original traditional gold paintwork – which remains very fashionable. The hinges on the ottoman still work perfectly and its little chain stay is firmly attached, as is the drop handle on the lid.

Given the ottoman is a vintage item it has signs of use. There are some places where the gold paint has worn away. However, these add to its charm and are to be expected given its age.
