IF we were to tell you that the Europa is one of the Swift Group’s many offerings, you’ll probably know exactly what to expect.

Some of the phrases flashing through your mind will include ‘nicely finished’, ‘reasonably well equipped’ and ‘safely designed’ – this latter one accounting for the inside as well as the exterior. If those are your thoughts, let’s just say that they’re not misplaced – but that’s not to damn the Europa with faint praise.

This is a ’van that’s been around since Noah was in short trousers, and while it’s a very familiar sight, the 460 has still got a lot going for it. It’s a good-looking ’van on the outside, and the end washroom offers as much space as you’re ever likely to need. But the Europa is let down by some silly details; the washroom window isn’t frosted so you’re given no privacy. Then there’s the galley, which has a real lack of worktop space – with the draining board in place there’s no room at all. Going some way towards making up for this is the equipment, of which there’s plenty. While there are undoubtedly better ‘vans in this group, the Europa is still definitely worthy of inclusion.
