A possession starts with a simple question. Where can you gain the next few yards?

Look at retro bowl routes before making a pass. Some receivers will move into open areas. Others may attract defenders and create space for another player.

Passing works best when you lead the ball into space. This gives the receiver room to catch it and continue running. A direct throw can work on short routes, but deeper routes need better timing.

Running requires a different approach. Check the defensive line first. If the middle is crowded, wait for a better lane or use another option. A small running gain can still be useful when you need to protect the ball.
