I have taken the time to Update the custom firmware on this radio to the latest Egzumer v0.22 this radio has a lot to offer. Too many to mention but just look up on google and read the Egzumer v0.22 manual and see what this firmware can do and what actions you can perform when installed as well as installing the firmware I have programmed this radio with local repeaters and all the simplex channels both VHF & UHF plus PMR channels. all this for £28 and you still memories to add your own channels or frequencies

Display: It typically uses the orange/amber backlight found in the UV-K5(8), rather than the white or blue of the original UV-K5.

Physical Build: Users have noted that the buttons on the "99" model are less "squeaky" than the "8" version, though the overall chassis may feel slightly lighter.
