We originally bought Wally as a project pony for me to bring on for our daughter, but he grew rather more than expected and our daughter is still many years away from him being the right size for her (and that's assuming she's still riding by then). So, as much as it pains me to admit it, he's simply wasted with us at the moment and deserves so much more love, attention and fun than we're currently able to give him.
The GOOD bits:
Wally is a lovely, sweet-natured pony with lots of personality who genuinely enjoys having a job to do. He's forward-going (but not the sort to whizz off, you just don't have to kick constantly!), willing and eager to please. He's got a great little jump on him and plenty of potential for the right child to have lots of fun with.
Over the years, he's enjoyed lots of Pony Club rallies and camps, local shows, gymkhana games, plenty of hacking and lots of lead rein adventures with our two children and their friends.
Although he's been out and about lots, it's all been with tiny tots, so he's still relatively low mileage for his age and a bit green in places, simply because I haven't had the time to do as much with him as I'd have liked. So he's not a kick-along, push-button pony (yet!), but he loves being out and about and having something to do. And I really do believe that he has the potential to be someone's absolute pony of a lifetime.
Wally is good to catch, clip and have his feet done, and is up to date with his teeth and vaccinations. He's barefoot and has been the whole time we've had him (although I believe he was shod previously). His feet are like rocks and we've never had any reason to put shoes on him!
He lives out pretty much 24/7, only coming in on particularly wet or windy days/nights, but he's equally happy having a stable when needed.
The not-so-good bits:
Wally is a very hairy cob, and I mean HAIRY! He looks super handsome clipped out, but obviously keeping on top of all that hair takes a bit of effort. He can also get itchy, so we regularly treat him for feather mites.
He's also very clever and knows exactly when the electric fence is switched off...and if the grass is greener on the other side (actually even if it isn't), you can better believe he will pull/chew the fence until he is through to it.
The perfect home:
Whilst Wally has been a fab lead rein pony for our little ones, I feel he'd much prefer a home with an older child where he's doing a bit more. Ideally, a confident, capable child with a supportive, knowledgeable family who will absolutely adore him, enjoy his cheeky personality and have lots of fun together.
More than anything, I'm looking for a home where he'll be loved as much as he is here. Somewhere where he'll get plenty of attention, have lots of fun and be treated as part of the family. He's just got so much to give.
This hasn't been an easy decision, and I'm not in any rush to see him go. The right home is everything, and he'll only be leaving if we find the right one. All prospective homes will be vetted, references will be required and a formal loan agreement will be put in place.
Very happy to answer any questions.
