2022 Chausson Titanium Premium 640 Automatic – 170BHP | 4 Berth | End Washroom | Ready for Adventure

One of Chausson's cleverest layouts – combining a huge front lounge, electric drop-down bed, full-width rear washroom and generous garage into one exceptionally practical 3,500kg motorhome.

The 2022 Chausson Titanium Premium 640 Automatic is the sort of motorhome that makes you wonder why anyone ever thought a permanent bedroom was essential.

Instead, Chausson has created something far more flexible: a wonderfully open face-to-face lounge by day, an effortlessly deployed electric drop-down double bed by night, and an enormous rear washroom that gives this 6.99m motorhome an almost apartment-like feel.

And underneath it all is the Ford Transit 170BHP automatic, giving you a genuinely relaxed way to travel.

The Titanium Premium specification was Chausson's higher-specification Ford-based model for 2022, with the 170BHP engine and automatic transmission forming part of its premium specification.

Automatic, 170BHP and ready to tour

The Ford Transit 2.0-litre 170BHP automatic is an excellent match for the 640.

With a 3,500kg maximum weight, this is a substantial motorhome that remains within the familiar UK weight category for drivers with the appropriate licence entitlement.

The automatic gearbox makes long-distance touring particularly effortless, whether you're cruising motorways, negotiating traffic or arriving at your favourite campsite after a few hours behind the wheel.

And with swivel cab seats, the driving area becomes part of the living space when you're parked.

Turn the seats around, open the lounge up and suddenly the cab disappears into the motorhome.

A lounge designed around living – not just sitting

This is where the Chausson 640 really earns its reputation.

The face-to-face lounge places two opposing sofas around the adjustable dining table, creating a wonderfully sociable space for meals, drinks, cards or simply putting your feet up.

The clever part is hidden underneath.

The two travelling seats fold away beneath the lounge, providing proper forward-facing travel positions when you're on the move and disappearing neatly when you're parked.

So instead of staring at two permanent travel seats all day, you get a much more attractive and usable lounge.

And with the cab seats swivelled around, there's room for the whole crew to sit together.

Chausson specifically designed the 640's lounge so that the travel seats could be concealed when not required — a brilliantly simple idea that makes a huge difference to everyday use.

Then, when it's bedtime...

Press a button.

The electric drop-down double bed quietly lowers from the ceiling above the lounge.

No cushions to move.

No complicated bed conversion.

No making the bed every night.

Just lower it, climb in and you're ready for a good night's sleep.

The Titanium Premium version featured Chausson's premium drop-down bed design, and the 640 was specifically one of the models where this was offered as standard.

The bed measures approximately 1.90m x 1.60m, giving you a genuinely generous sleeping area.

And because it disappears upwards during the day, the lounge remains beautifully open.

It's a bedroom when you need one and a lounge when you don't.

The bathroom is something rather special

Walk towards the rear and you'll discover one of the biggest surprises of the 640.

The full-width end washroom stretches across the back of the motorhome, giving you a level of space that is unusual in a vehicle of this size.

There's a separate shower cubicle, vanity area, swivel style cassette toilet and extensive storage, creating a private bathroom and dressing area rather than the typical compact motorhome washroom.

The separate shower is particularly welcome — no wet-room compromise and no need to wait for everything to dry before using the toilet.

And there's a substantial wardrobe/dressing area, making it particularly useful for longer touring trips.

A garage for the adventurous stuff

Behind the rear washroom is a large garage, with access from the exterior and useful internal access too.

It's ideal for carrying outdoor chairs, tables, walking boots, barbecue equipment, camping gear and, of course, bikes.

The 640's garage was designed with practical touring in mind, with Chausson specifying two exterior access doors, lighting and electrical provision.

So you can pack properly for the trip rather than deciding what you're going to leave behind.

And the kitchen isn't short of space either

The midships kitchen is perfectly positioned between the lounge and rear washroom and provides everything you need for proper touring.

There's a dual-fuel hob with three burners, oven and grill, plenty of cupboards and drawers and a large tower fridge/freezer.

Published 2022 specifications put the fridge capacity at approximately 167 litres, giving you plenty of room for the food and drinks needed for a serious touring trip.

The Titanium Premium specification also adds thoughtful touches such as the pan drawer, magnetic board, bottle rack and illuminated kitchen backboard.

It's the sort of kitchen where cooking feels like part of the holiday rather than an inconvenience.

Outside living? Absolutely.

This particular 640 also comes equipped with a wind-out awning, giving you a ready-made outdoor living room.

There's also an external gas BBQ point, so when the weather is behaving itself, you can take dinner outside rather than heating up the kitchen.

And when you've been walking, cycling or exploring, the external shower point is another brilliant addition.

Muddy boots?

Rinse them.

Bikes?

Give them a wash.

Dog?

Muddy paws don't stand a chance.

Chausson's Titanium Premium specification included both the external gas socket and external shower as part of its higher level of equipment.

Solar power and touring freedom

With a solar panel fitted, this Chausson is well suited to spending time away from the mains.

It's a particularly useful feature when you find yourself wanting to stay somewhere beautiful rather than somewhere with the biggest electrical hook-up pitch.

The Titanium Premium specification also included useful touring equipment such as additional LED lighting, USB connectivity and a premium interior specification.

Premium means premium

The Titanium Premium was positioned above Chausson's standard First Line models, and you can see it in the details.

There's the luxury techno dashboard, automatic lighting and windscreen wipers, fog lamps, wraparound cab blinds, luxury entrance door, premium mattress, alloy wheels and premium furniture and fabrics.

Even the smaller details have received attention, including a wooden shower duckboard, shoe rack, additional bathroom storage and extra LED lighting.

It's a motorhome that feels designed for people who intend to spend plenty of time inside it.

Four berths. Four travel seats. One very clever layout.

The beauty of the Chausson 640 is how well it adapts.

Two travelling? You've got an enormous lounge, a luxurious drop-down bed and a huge rear bathroom.

Four travelling? The two hidden travel seats appear from beneath the lounge.

Four sleeping?Lower the drop-down bed and convert the lounge for the additional sleeping accommodation.

The published specifications confirm the 640 as a 4-berth, 4-belt, 3,500kg motorhome, measuring 6.99m long and 2.35m wide.

That's a lot of motorhome capability without stepping into the dimensions of a much larger A-Class.

Why this Chausson 640 stands out

There are plenty of four-berth motorhomes.

But very few manage to combine this much lounge space, a proper drop-down bed, fold-away travelling seats, a full-width rear bathroom and a large garage quite so successfully.

It's a layout that makes sense whether you're travelling as a couple or taking the family.

And the 170BHP automatic Ford means getting there is just as enjoyable as being there.

Drive it like a car.

Live in it like a home.

Tour in it like you mean it.
