I have started the violin courses from zero, total beginner. Now I'm playing the pieces and improving my skills. I see I big progress after 6 month. I could recently play violin on my wedding and I'm preparing the exam. I appreciate Vira as a teacher who is very professional, always listen and helps me to progress. Vira is inspiring teacher and very positive. I enjoy every lesson.

Vira has been a wonderful violin teacher this past year, with her guidance I'm now on grade 2. Each lesson I demonstrate what I've been practicing and Vira provides excellent feedback, exercises, and a bit of homework to help me improve. I've also occasionally bought in my own sheet music which we tackle together and she'll help clarify any questions I have about the piece or help with sections I'm stuck on. Overall Vira is an excellent teacher; the music school building is rustic and humble with nice accustics; and the location is easy to reach via tube. If you're an adult learner like me looking to pick up the Violin as a new hobby then I definitely recommend this school as a great place to start!

I've learned a lot so far practicing with Vira. she's taught me so much, and always provides notes on how I can improve. I started with 0 experience - 5 months later I'm ready to do the grade 1 exam. Since I started I've created a list of pieces to learn with Vira as I improve

[Edit: I’m bumping this up from 1 to 3 stars because the management reached out swiftly to genuinely apologise and speak about the issue. I understand these things can happen and appreciate that the institute is open to feedback and change. ] I don’t often give poor reviews, but this was an awful experience. I don’t even think I’m upset, just disheartened by the experience and wanted to share for any adult learners. Book a trial lesson first! I have very brief experience playing music and was really looking forward to picking up a new hobby. I asked through email whether I needed to prepare a violin to which they responded that there would be one in the studio during the lesson, and they also hire violins. The lesson was very awkward, the teacher seemed confused that I didn’t bring a violin, didn’t tell me whether to stand or sit down, and was unwelcoming. To be fair, they looked tired. They stopped speaking midway and said “err okay there’s still 30 minutes left…” (I booked a 45 min class for 60£) The teacher was also confused that I did not bring a violin and said that they don’t have suggestions/hire violins. I fumbled nervously holding the bow and playing some scales (the teacher lent me their violin) - there was no specific guidance on music reading or the notes on the sheet, basically very little on what I should do. I felt like I was “winging it” through a lesson which was very strange. I get nervous easily, and found myself laughing awkwardly to avoid being embarrassed as an adult learner and not knowing what to do, or talking to myself(?). At one point I even tried to end the class early D: When the time was up the teacher seemed happy to end the lesson and told me to leave on my own. Not sure what is going on here, I’ve had adult cello lessons where the teacher was very encouraging and inspiring. I don’t recommend for people who need more guidance and a more welcoming approach!

I had a great time learning violin at The London Violin Institute. Vira is a great teacher. She’s very passionate and patient. She taught me a lot, not only my techniques had improved, but also my understanding to music. She explained very well with theories, history and backgrounds of the music even for beginners, like me. Highly recommended.
