Really friendly and helpful and super price. Thorough survey. My only reason for 4 stars not 5 is the report seemed a bit 'catastrophising'. It opened saying all seemed 'about right' for a building its age but then listed quite a few 'category 1/red' items that were so urgent - even life-threatening - they needed attention immediately. But then later in the report it seemed they weren't so terrible after all. I felt the surveyors were perhaps 'covering themselves' by giving worst-case scenarios that unduly alarmed me. I gave it to my brother with close surveyor friend who was reassuring and I now feel I have more reasoned advice on just one or two things I 'might' want to get done soon after moving in but which aren't catastrophic, and that it wouldn't be right to try to persuade sellers to lower the price as what they're selling is reasonable to sell 'as is'.
I think it's possible that this is what all property surveys are like, they have to cover themselves in case something goes wrong and client then 'sues' in our increasingly litigious environment, for which I'm sorry and don't blame them. I just needed something a bit more 'user friendly', perhaps, and maybe was asking the impossible.
But no doubt it was extremely professional and thorough, with superb communication and liaison and, to be fair, I didn't contact them afterwards when I could, perhaps, have got that more user-friendly advice I sought. So even mentioning above sounds negative but I hope you'll have made it this far to say I would still highly recommend BP Dunn and team and have no regrets in using them. Just be aware that you might need to chat afterwards to put things into perspective. :-)
