About Exterior Cleaning Solutions
Exterior Cleaning Solutions Northampton Ltd (ECS) cleans the outside of homes and commercial buildings. The company was founded in Northampton in 2021 by Peter Gama. He had noticed how many local roofs were covered in moss and how much render was stained green, and how few companies treated those surfaces properly. Most were blasting them with high pressure instead of soft washing and applying a biocide.
ECS was built around doing each surface the right way. Moss is scraped by hand before a roof is soft washed. Render and delicate cladding are never jet washed. Every treated surface gets a DDAC biocide, which rain activates and which keeps killing growth for months after the visit.
The core team is six people: Peter, Neil, Chris, Richard, Christina and Polly. On larger commercial projects the team scales up, but Peter surveys the job himself and is on site directing the work. Since 2021 ECS has completed more than 500 residential and commercial jobs.
Residential services
Roof cleaning and moss removal. Concrete, clay, slate and flat roofs are cleared of moss by hand, soft washed at low pressure and finished with a DDAC biocide to slow regrowth. ECS does not pressure wash tiles, because it strips the surface and shortens the roof's life. From £400.
Render cleaning. K-Rend, monocouche, silicone and sand and cement render is soft washed to remove green, red and black algae, then treated with biocide. From £350.
Cladding and facade cleaning. Metal, aluminium, UPVC, composite, timber and fibre cement panels. Pressure and chemical strength are set for each material, with a test patch first. Telescopic poles reach about 12 metres from the ground, and taller elevations are done from a cherry picker. From £300.
Pressure washing, jet washing and steam cleaning. Driveways, patios, block paving, walls, fences and paths. Rotary surface cleaners give an even finish, and hot water and steam lift oil, grease and stubborn staining. Small patios from £150, driveways typically £250 to £400.
Gutter, fascia and soffit cleaning. Gutters are cleared with vacuum systems, with camera footage before and after, and downpipes are unblocked. Fascias and soffits can be cleaned in the same visit. From £80.
Solar panel cleaning. Pure water systems with no chemicals, so panel coatings are not damaged. Customers have reported output rising by up to 30% after a clean. From £80.
Several services can be combined in one visit with one quote. A roof and cladding clean done together costs less, because the access equipment is set up once.

Larger sites start with a free survey. For tall or multi-roof buildings this is a drone survey, so the scope is clear before anyone quotes and nobody walks on fragile roof sheets.
Every commercial job includes Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and COSHH data sheets, issued before work starts. After the job there is a walk-round with the site contact and a written report with before and after photos. The report also flags defects found during the clean, such as rusted gutters or damaged flashing. Work is planned around the client's operations: weekends, evenings and zoned working around entrances and deliveries are normal and cost nothing extra.

Access, insurance and certification
ECS carries £5 million public liability insurance on every job, and the certificate is available on request. The team holds IPAF certification for cherry pickers up to 20 metres and CSCS cards for construction site access. Access is by telescopic pole, scaffold tower, cherry picker or drone survey, depending on the building.
How quoting works
Quotes are free. For most homes and small units, photos on WhatsApp are enough for a price. Larger sites get a site visit first. The written quote arrives within 24 hours, stays valid for 30 days and includes the method, the timings and the full cost with no hidden extras. Jobs can usually be scheduled within one to two weeks. ECS takes no upfront deposit, and customers pay once the work is finished and they are satisfied.
