Easily one of the best high end places to eat in Essex. The dining room is open and understated, with an inviting atmosphere. We had the midweek set menu at £29.50 for two courses which is excellent value. All the food was exceptional, with a call out to the bass which cooked to perfection balancing crispy and juicy. Staff are excellent; knowledgeable and present but not interfering. A thoroughly pleasant experience and I can't wait to go back.

We hired the private dining room for our small wedding reception of 24 guests in June. The communication and service from booking was flawless throughout. Carol was our first point of contact, and she was very helpful and communicative. We were able to attend the evening before to set up, which really took the stress out of our day. Service during the reception was excellent. Kiera, our waitress for the day, worked tirelessly to ensure its smooth running; friendly, helpful, attentive and very professional throughout, even when she was very busy. The food service was wonderful too: our glasses were never empty, the food arrived in very good time and cleared away efficiently, allowing our guests to simply relax and make full use of the space and air conditioning on a particularly hot day. Food was really delicious, well priced, with plenty of variety and flavour. A faultless day, highly recommended for private functions! Thank you for making our special day so memorable.

I don’t really write reviews but felt it was necessary to recommend this lovely local restaurant to others, especially for special occasions!! We had the most wonderful experience at the magic mushroom restaurant celebrating my mother in laws 80th birthday. The food was absolutely delicious - every dish was beautifully presented, full of flavour and enjoyed by everyone at the table. The function room was warm and welcoming, making the occasion feel even more special. A special mention to our waitress, Keira, who was outstanding throughout the day. She was incredibly attentive and made sure everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble and her care and professionalism was really helped make the celebration memorable. Thank you to the whole team for making such an important family occasion so enjoyable. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend the Magic Mushroom to anyone looking for fantastic food and exceptional service.

First time visit having had exquisite, fine dining moments at its best with lovely food and attentive service. On par with a 5-star hotel service.
