Paracise is a gentle, 45 minute, standing class (no floor work), set to wonderful music. It is great for balance, posture, mobility, core strength and cognition.
The class was created by Sarah Goldsack a fitness instructor and previous ballroom dancer who was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy in 2014. With the help of physiotherapists she devises the choreography and teaches other instructors to become Paracise teachers. You will now find these classes up and down the country.
Paracise is aimed at anyone who would like to improve their quality of life; may be unfit; returning from injury; for some with underlying health conditions - my clients include those with Parkinsons disease, arthritis, fybromyalgia, COPD, atrial fibrillation, post stroke, post heartattack, recovering from hip and knee replacements, back issues and mental health struggles amongst other ailments. My youngest client is in their late 30's and oldest to date 95. The beauty of Paracise is that you can 'cherry pick' the movements that are right for you, missing out any that aren't. You can rest whenever you need to, even sit down if you prefer. No matter how little you do, you can rest assured that you will be getting mental and physical health benefits.
