DO NOT USE!!!!!
I am writing this so other consumers will not be scammed as I was. My move with Tri State Area Moving and Storage Corp was by far the worst experiance I have ever had. I have been trying for weeks to recoup financial remediation for improper charges and unresolved property damage. Prior to the move, a representative named Ken conducted an in-person walkthrough of my home and provided a detailed estimate to move my household for just under $3,800. Based on that estimate, I left a $100 deposit to secure the date. I coordinated scheduling through a salesperson named Elaine, who was professional and responsive. On the move date, the moving crew arrived on time and loaded my belongings. Once the truck was fully loaded—and after my property was already in Tri State’s possession—the foreman informed me that I was being charged an additional $2,000, even though the crew still could not fit all my belongings in the truck, requiring a second trip. I was explicitly told that my belongings would not be unloaded unless the additional payment was made immediately. This represented an increase of approximately 65% over the original estimate. Given Tri State’s claim of operating since 1999, this cannot reasonably be characterized as a minor variance or oversight. I had no meaningful alternative but to pay under financial and logistical duress, as my household goods were being withheld. During this time, I attempted to escalate the issue to management and spoke with a representative named Karen, who was unresponsive and directed me back to the foreman while stating she was unavailable due to a meeting. This occurred while my belongings were actively being withheld and left me without any managerial recourse. In addition to the pricing misconduct, several items were damaged during the move. Despite extensive and well-documented efforts to resolve these issues, Tri State has failed to provide any resolutionAs of today, there has been no settlement, no written determination, and no meaningful response regarding the damage claim.Based on the above, I believe Tri State engaged in deceptive and coercive billing practices, misrepresented the original estimate, unlawfully withheld property pending payment, and failed to timely process or resolve a valid damage claim.
