This is only a one star review because I can't add a no star review.
On 19th July 2023 I purchased the Islington black leather 3+2 seater sofa set online from Furniture Instore. I paid £699.99.. By May 2025, the middle leg on the two seat sofa has collapsed three times and replacements have been required, and the middle leg on the three seat sofa has broken once. The material of the seat cushions on both sofas had worn away in large patches, and the seat cushions on the two seater had deformed.
I contacted Furniture Instore and requested a refund, which they refused. I then cited the Consumer Rights Act 2015 that makes it an implied term of the contract that goods be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality (which was not the case, as the sofas were in such poor condition that I couldn't even donate them to charity). They then offered me 50% discount on another sofa which I refused, as I didn't intend to spend even more money on another sofa from Furniture Instore. They told me that was the best they would offer, to which I replied that my next step was court action (a first for me).
I raised a case with the small claims court, which Furniture Instore didn't respond to by the deadline, and then raised a CCJ against them.
Subsequently Furniture Instore contacted me (after the court had contacted them), and refunded the full cost of the sofas, plus the £70 court costs I had paid.
I obviously wouldn't buy from Furniture Instore again, but this has been my own bad experience, and other people may have had a more positive transaction.
Caveat Emptor!
