I wanted to take a moment to share my feedback on my recent house buying experience with John German, particularly working with Lisa Hunt and the wider team. Overall, I had a very positive experience throughout the process. Lisa Hunt was an excellent manager—highly organised and consistently prompt in her responses, which made a significant difference during what can often be a stressful journey. The team was very helpful at multiple stages, especially during property viewings. I appreciated the clear timelines provided, the effort taken to explain any issues, and the patience shown in addressing my questions and concerns. The coordination between the seller and myself was handled smoothly, which helped keep things progressing efficiently. As a piece of constructive feedback, I would have really appreciated a small gesture at the end of the process—such as a congratulatory bouquet or a sweet treat—either on completion, key collection, or moving-in day. It would add a thoughtful and memorable touch to an already positive experience. That said, I would definitely recommend John German and the team to anyone looking to buy property. We recently bought our first home through John German and I couldn’t rate their professionalism and helpfulness more highly. We were able to have several viewings after having our offer accepted, so that we could show our parents and have a final check round before we exchanged. They also gave access to our carpet fitter, so he could measure up before we moved in. Gemma, showed us round on our first viewing and was so lovely, so we were really pleased to see she was in the office when we picked the keys up! Vicky was the main person I spoke with during the buying process, she was incredibly patient, warm and kind. Especially as this was our first purchase, so everything felt quite overwhelming. She really reassured us and was excellent at chasing our seller and their solicitors. I don’t think we’ll ever sell our house as we hope it’s our forever home, but if we were to in the future, we’d definitely use them!

Thank you for your response, Tracey. I appreciate your perspective; however, I feel it’s important to clarify a few points. Firstly, regarding the keys: I personally delivered all sets of keys, including door fobs and the postal box key, at my own expense. I have photographic evidence showing they were handed over to your office. It is disappointing that this has not been acknowledged, again. As shown in the attached photo, I am still trying to recover the postal box key, which was left at your office on the same day, 24/10/2025. Regarding the sole agency agreement, I had no issue with the contract initially. However, after 2.5 months with no tenant secured, I informed you that I would be approaching a second agent. This decision was not taken lightly but became necessary due to a loss of confidence in the process. The second agent successfully found a tenant within the second week, which speaks for itself. On the asking price, the property ultimately rented at the amount originally listed, which aligns with the market rate, contrary to the point made in your response. Finally, concerning the developer appointment, I was not informed in advance that attending would require 24 hours’ notice. Even if that had been the case, knowing we were traveling from London, I would have expected a courtesy call or acknowledgment around 5 pm so that alternative arrangements could be made. The lack of communication and consideration in this instance was extremely disappointing. While I acknowledge your efforts with viewings and other activities, these issues highlight why I was unable to continue with your agency. Kind regards,

Professional, efficient, and good communication throughout. Listened, understood and met my requirements for selling which ultimately won my decision with which agent was the best for fit for selling our family home. I found the fee to be competitively priced over other agents that appear to concentrate on style over substance. I would definitely recommend John German Estate Agents Derby.
