My name is Rachael and I am a qualified City and Guilds dog groomer, gaining distinction in levels 2 and 3 of dog grooming. My salon is a fully equipped converted garage based at my home. The welfare of your dog is very important to me, I treat every dog as I would my own.
Throughout the grooming process, I abide by the 5 freedoms of the animal welfare act:
Freedom from thirst – I will ensure water is available and a comfort break is given after the bathFreedom to allow your dog to exhibit natural behaviour – I will allow your dog to lay down and move around on the grooming table, I do not use restrictive harnessesFreedom from pain, injury and disease – I will carry out every procedure using gentle instruments and techniques. I ensure all areas and instruments are cleaned with high level disinfectant and sterilised after each dog to avoid cross contaminationFreedom from discomfort – My salon is fully equipped with a hydraulic bath and table and ramps are available for elderly or infirm dogs.Freedom from fear or distress – I will use positive training techniques so your dog will gain confidence in me and the procedures I carry out. I use Adaptil spray and room diffuser, a synthetic copy of the natural comforting pheromone released by a mother to her puppies, this has been scientifically proven to reduce stress in dogs of any age (more info can be found at www.adaptil.com)
