Winchelsea Sands Holiday Park

We recently stayed at Park Holidays in a Gold 3-bedroom pet-friendly caravan with our family of seven and our two dogs. The caravan was a good size for a family of this size. As you’d expect with caravan accommodation, space is limited, but it was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The park itself was clean and well maintained, and all of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. One of the highlights was how close the beach was – just a few minutes’ walk away. It was perfect for taking the dogs, and on the way there was a lovely large field and a small playground, which the children really enjoyed. When booking, we were looking for somewhere that wasn’t too busy or overcrowded like some of the larger holiday parks we’ve visited before, but still had enough to keep the kids entertained. This park was exactly what we were after. It has an outdoor swimming pool, a restaurant and bar, and there’s also a Co-op conveniently located right outside the park. It isn’t a lively, entertainment-packed park, which actually suited us perfectly. It was peaceful, relaxing, and ideal for families looking for a quieter holiday while still having everything they need close by. We’d definitely consider staying here again.

Winchelsea Beach is an ideal peace-and-quiet destination situated between wild coastline, rolling farmland and adjacent to several important nature reserves. The Winchelsea Sands camp sits very sensitively in this environment, catering ideally to a more mature demographic, though it looks lovely for younger kids (ideal Nan & Grandpa site) there is probably not a lot to appeal to the Teens unless you have one of those rare ones where nature is their bag. The site is small, immaculately kept, the staff are super friendly and all look genuinely happy to be working there. Swimming pool is well screened, shallow and clean, no lifeguard but I doubt one would be necessary given the proximity of staff assistance. The clubhouse is small but kept lively throughout the day by the park residents, decent coffee at a reasonable price too. The camp breakfast is fair, largely for its convenience, but if you prefer yours more 'local and hearty' there is a banging beachside cafe 500 yards to your right out of the site gate. There are a couple of noteworthy foodie offerings a further distance along the road if you turn left out of the camp. There is a small supermarket and a fish and chip bar directly outside the camp too so you can be well provisioned without a trip to the big shops. An hourly bus service for connections to Rye and Hastings stop close to the camp, both worth a visit if you get the chance. The site recognises its limitations, plays to its strengths and offers excellent value for money. Would score 4.5 if I could. Well done Park Holidays team, I'll be back!

Check in was straightforward and quick. Thank-you to Mark who helped with the wifi code. Stayed in a gold 2 berth caravan. Very clean, caravan looked quite new. Fully equipped with everything you could need. Only criticism was the sheets- they didn't fit or tuck in, ended up scrunched up underneath you. Also the mattress wasn't great, but appreciate its a caravan. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

The caravan (platinum) was great but the site itself isn't as advertised. The caravans are packed like sardines so if you're going for a basic caravan you'll be on top of each other. We came at start of the season but the bar was shut most of the time. When arrived we didn't get told anything and there is no app or entertainment. We got there 2 hours early and when asked if can check in slightly earlier we were told we'd have to pay for early check in and then the manager told us we can't check in early. A nice lady on reception did let us check in just after 3pm in the end. Outside HEATED pool is advertised at start of season but took my 3 year old midweek and it was freezing and filthy. There were workmen there fixing the fence and changing hut so couldn't change me or my son after swimming in private. No showers or anywhere to change privately at pool Some staff at park are ok but some should not be working there. I was given a buy one get one free voucher for tea or coffee. Ordered and the woman behind the bar said, I'll have yo make them both now for you, I said well can I come back for the second one in about 30 mins and she looked confused and didn't even know how to put the voucher through the till. Not very friendly either. The tea was awful The local area isn't great either, feels like you're on a housing estate with not a lot to do. We drove out to Brighton and other places so wasn't too bad but if you want stuff to do, be prepared to drive, even for a decent pub for food Wouldn't recommend and won't be coming back

Lovely break at our favourite caravan park! Lovely location, great staff, especially the young guy who checked us in (didn't get his name), but he was very nice and helpful! Love it here and we always return year on year. Clean, nice food and entertainment and definitely a top caravan park.
