Avoid like your life depends on it!
I purchased a car on the 29th March but 20 minutes into driving it home various warning signs came up on the dash so I immediately pulled over. Parking break faulty, ABS braking system faulty and ESP / ASR system faulty. The front left parking sensor also had a mind of its own and went off like crazy when I wasn't near anything!
We phoned them numerous times whilst pulled over and they eventually answered and agreed that we could return the car and they would fix it.
We received a message a few days later saying that the car was fixed and it was delivered to us a week later. Unfortunately the supposed "repairs" were very short lived because not even 3 weeks later all of the same faults returned! Along with a Gearbox Fault. I purchased a semi automatic car, and this gearbox fault resulted in the car not able to be driven in automatic, only manual, but also wouldn't go past 3rd gear! Very dangerous and I immediately stopped putting my children in it, especially after it started rolling back on hills! I also discovered in this time that there was an issue with a rear tyre and that the rear windscreen washer didn't work after I was told it just needed topping up.
I immediately informed them of the returning issues and they told me I needed to go through the warranty company (a 3 month warranty was provided upon purchase) to see if the car could be towed back to the garage. I was informed by the warranty company this was not possible and to go back to the garage. Which I did, and they claimed they spoke to the warranty company and that I could take it to any VAT registered garage near me for a diagnosis and repair and that they will sort it. I decided enough was enough by this point and formally rejected the car on the 28th April, within my legal right to do so as the car is completely unsafe and not fit for purpose.
I received a reply claiming that it is a simple fix and by replacing the ABS sensor this will fix all the other issues. However, the ABS sensor was supposedly fixed the first time I gave it back to them! So either I have been lied too and a repair was never carried out, or there is a considerably more serious issue with the car! I have not been provided with any documentation to prove the car was fixed, and when mentioned to them I have been ignored.
I was pushed again to go through the warranty company, who I contacted and explained myself again, only to find out I was given a warranty that was not suitable for the car I purchased! It only covered manual or fully automatic cars, not semi like mine, and they also don't cover the ABS sensor. So a complete waste of a warranty! They also had absolutely no record of the garage phoning them to discuss the policy for my car.
They did offer a partial refund, however I have been contesting this. I fully understand in some cases a partial refund should be accepted, however I am repeatedly being told it is a simple fix and my argument is that if it's so simple why wasn't it done in the first place! Why should I be left out of pocket for being sold a dodgy car! It's absolutely not my fault that you will need to add another keeper to the logbook, account for the miles driven whilst I used the car (a staggering 264 miles 🙄) and the administrative costs involved. If they were honest and fixed it the day I gave it back, then we wouldn't be in this situation and I wouldn't have been car less for the past 11 weeks! So it's their own fault for which I have zero sympathy. I don't appreciate being lied too and fobbed off.
I have had to repeatedly chase them for responses, since my rejection email I have sent 9 emails. I have received 2 replies. In 11 weeks.
They are very pushy about repairing, but I have made it abundantly clear that I don't want the pile of unsafe junk. I want it off my driveway and my money back so I can purchase a new car before the summer holidays.
I have never known a dealership to be so unprofessional, unreliable, untrustworthy and just downright rude. Their customer service is completely non existent.
