Bear means the world to me, and this is genuinely one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make. I'm not looking for just anyone — I want someone who will love and care for him as if he were their own.
Bear is a dark brown, 17.2hh Zangersheide-bred gelding (by Captain Celano Z) with a gentle, kind, and genuine temperament — a real lovely soul who's adored by everyone at his yard.
What he enjoys:
Hacking: A pleasure to ride out, good in company, doesn't spook much, and settled in traffic
Schooling: A genuine schoolmaster in the arena, with a background in dressage and showjumping — correct and responsive, thanks to natural horsemanship training and work with an equine biomechanics specialist. He'd be a real education for anyone wanting to improve their own riding
Bear is sound and ready to go — he's just had a couple of quieter weeks while I've been unable to ride myself.
Ideal rider:
An experienced, confident rider — ideally on the taller side given his size — with a kind, sympathetic approach. Someone who'll build a genuine bond with him and treat him as part of the family, not just a horse to ride.
Loan details:
Duration: At least 6 months to a year initially
Location: Bear must stay at his current yard — a small, family-run set-up in Newhaven with excellent off-road hacking and access to the South Downs and coastal rides. It's 5-day full livery, so weekend care would be down to you, although, everyone pitches in when needed at weekends.
Financials: You'd be responsible for his full livery costs (currently £693pcm)
Visits: I'd love to still be able to visit him
Agreement: A formal loan agreement will be arranged to protect us both
If you think you could be the right match for Bear, please get in touch and tell me about yourself, your riding experience, and why you think you'd be right for him. Finding someone who will genuinely love him matters so much more to me than finding someone quickly.
