Baofeng DM-1701A 5W Dual Band DMR Handheld dual band (UHF/VHF)

The new Baofeng DM-1701A is an entry-level, budget-friendly dual-band Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) and analog two-way radio. It is a revised version of the original DM-1701, featuring a squared-off body design, a back-clicked keyboard, and upgraded factory options.

DM 1701a is a brand-new version with a slightly different case apart from that I couldn’t see much difference apart from the price, it was £10 more than the DM-1701 radio, it came with GD77 already installed but I have installed latest version (2026). Also, I have installed my codeplug that has my own hotspot configured to run the DMR side of the radio. I have installed some local repeaters and all UHF and VHF simplex Channels also the 16 PMR446 channels. obviously, I will have to take my callsign and digital ID off my codeplug when I sell the radio but the main channels and contacts will still be there. Basically, all you will need to do is put your own callsign and digital ID in the radio and configure you own hotspot or local repeater to use the radio on DMR. Allot of work and time as gone Ito programming and installing OpenGD77 firmware into this radio so I think £65 considering all the work that has gone into this DMR radio
