Location: New Haw, Surrey
Pay: £14.80 per hour
Hours:
• 4 hours on Saturdays or Sundays
• School holidays: 3 days per week, 4 hours per day
• Additional flexibility may be beneficial

About the Role
We are looking for a caring, reliable and confident Support Worker to provide community access support for a young person with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) living in New Haw.
The role involves supporting him to access and enjoy activities in the local community, including holiday clubs, animal therapy sessions, bowling and other leisure activities. The aim is to help him build confidence, develop independence and enjoy positive experiences outside the home.

About You
You will be patient, understanding and able to build a trusting relationship over time. Experience supporting children or young people with autism, anxiety or behaviours that may challenge would be highly beneficial.

The ideal candidate will:
• Have a calm and reassuring approach
• Be confident supporting a young person in community settings
• Be able to respond appropriately to periods of anxiety, frustration or emotional dysregulation
• Be reliable, flexible and committed to providing consistent support
• Have experience working with autistic children or young people (preferred)
• Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a suitable vehicle

Additional Information
The young person can experience heightened anxiety and emotional distress at times and therefore requires support from someone who can remain calm, patient and consistent. An understanding of autism and positive behaviour support approaches would be advantageous.
