This is an incredibly difficult advert to write, because Trixie is going to be someone’s heart horse.
Trixie is only available because we own a busy riding school, and we have come to the difficult decision that riding-school life simply isn’t the right environment for her.
She is a young, intelligent and incredibly talented mare who thrives when she has a relationship with her person. She has built some lovely bonds with our experienced members of staff, but she can become frustrated and grumpy when handled by nervous or inexperienced grooms and handlers. On a busy yard, with lots of different people coming and going, this isn’t something we can manage long-term.
In a smaller, experienced home with one or two people to call her own, I genuinely believe she will flourish.
And what a horse she is.

🐴 Incredibly brave — she is pretty much unspookable
🐴 Jumps whatever you put in front of her, both showjumping and cross-country
🐴 Hacks out and is happy to lead
🐴 I can ride and lead from her
🐴 I think she would absolutely love hunting
🐴 Beautiful, striking and full of presence
She is still young and learning, and we have deliberately taken our time with her. She hasn’t been rushed or overproduced, and there is still so much more to come from her.
She is the sort of horse that, with the right person, could go in so many directions. She is brave, athletic, clever and has already shown just how versatile she can be.
But the home is far more important to me than simply selling her.
Trixie needs an experienced, confident horse person who understands mares and enjoys building a genuine partnership. She doesn’t need a huge number of people handling her — she needs her person.
I am heartbroken to let her go, but I also know that keeping her in an environment that doesn’t suit her would be selfish. I want to see her happy, settled and absolutely adored.
Homes will be vetted, and I would very much like to stay in touch. I will undoubtedly be watching your adventures slightly enviously, because I truly believe Trixie has the potential to become the most incredible mare and someone’s horse of a lifetime.
She is up to date with everything and has been professionally managed on a 5-star licensed, BHS Approved yard.
