Mare

Insanely pretty and always in the ribbons at the local shows without being over shown. Glitter is an incredibly talented jumper for her size, bold in the arena and could easily do a prelim/novice dressage test.

We have had Glitter for 2 years now. She came to us having been broken for 3 weeks and basically unhandled before that.

Glitter has been produced by a fairly novice (back then) 10 year old off the lead and ridden on the lead by a 2 and 4 year old so progress has taken time which isn’t necessarily a bad thing!

The now 12 year old is too tall, although she adores her, the now 6 year old isn’t interested and the now 4 year old hates showing (see recent pics) and wants a racing Shetland to go fast on! 🤷🏻‍♀️ So it’s time for Glitter to find a new home.

Positives / has attended:

🦄 Just returned from a 5 day riding school pony club camp where she was in the top group but the smallest by a few hands. They were doing 2’6ft grids with her and she was flying.

🦄 Active Pony club members been to rallies on and off the lead rein.

🦄 Been to shows at different venues. Doesn’t hot up. Doesn’t need working in. Isn’t bothered if her friend goes off to different classes. Always been placed well showing or won.

🦄 Done 1 affiliated show on lead rein on the hottest day of the year (child hated it) pony was fine.

🦄 Been to the beach and in the sea

🦄 Been on a childrens hound exercise on lead rein. Not bothered by hounds, good in company. Not sure how she’d be off the lead but…

🦄 Done lots of hacking in company. Doesn’t hot up but does like to race. Not particularly spooky. Fairly solid with cars bikes motorbikes up to 3.5 ton including Ocado vans etc. Seen a bus was fine. Slightly jumpy of tractors but doesn’t go anywhere same with 7.5 vehicles but not really seen these much for training. Good in open spaces. Does snatch for grass (not positive!) Doesn’t leave the group or lead. I say this is a positive because I don’t want her carting off with a child on board! Still able to do XC alone.

🦄 Loads and travels well

🦄 Generally good for farrier occasionally gets bored but is easily told stop it and stands still

🦄 Good for dentist ( had 2 tiny wolf teeth out this year (?))

🦄 Up to date with vacc and good with vet

🦄 Never reared. Not a bucker.

Negatives:

🍄 Needs a rider who can ride. In the school she needs her speed checking at times. She can get fast and faster if allowed. Riding school recommended to bit up we just have her in a snaffle but 12 year old doesn’t report her as ‘strong’.

🍄 Can randomly spook in the school ( think it’s cheeky more than genuine ) any excuse for a canter.

🍄 Similar vein can nap very occasionally now. Ie decide she’s not going up the school on one rein. Head strong Welsh moments I call them!

🍄 Learns very quick. Typical mare works out what you want to do and repeats, all great unless it’s the wrong thing and keeps repeating the wrong thing! 🤯

🍄 Jumping in canter almost there sometimes looses balance and veers off on corners missing jump. It will come soon.

🍄 Not done much XC. 12 year can canter her around our back field over the logs now ( sometimes Glitter heads for home at the gate ! 🙈

🍄 Can be a bit grumpy ( ears back ) with young kids until she knows them.

As you can see from the pictures she’s done loads just needs the right experienced rider who wants win to pair up with her now. Could go onto a successful showing / WHP career, continue with pony club or be a great flashy hacking pony.
