"Teddy" Dark Bay Gelding Happy Hacker

Teddy came to us in August 2021 shortly after his final race, having previously raced under the name Stadius. Since retiring from racing, he has enjoyed a quieter lifestyle and has settled well into life outside the track.

He is an incredibly friendly and affectionate horse who loves fuss and attention and is easy to manage on the yard. Teddy is good to handle, shoe, box, feed and pick out feet. He lives out 24/7 in a big herd with other geldings but is also happy being stabled in the day and out over night or vice versa.

Teddy is most content out hacking and particularly enjoys riding in the woods. He’s fab with traffic, dogs and happy having a good blast in a group ride and will have a good gallop out and will then happily walk on the buckle after. In the 5 years we have owned him he has never bucked or reared. He works very nicely on the flat in the school with three very correct paces in a lovely outline, but he is not a jumping horse and is unlikely to become one. He lacks confidence over coloured poles and needs lots of reassurance, even for a small cross pole. He is more confident with natural fences and loves to jump a few logs while out hacking. He would be best suited for a rider looking for a flatwork and hacking horse.

Teddy is looking for a kind, knowledgeable one-to-one home, ideally with an adult rider who enjoys hacking and will appreciate his gentle nature. A calm, loving environment where his needs are understood is the priority.

Price: £4,500 including completely full wardrobe and tack, with a recently purchased saddle costing over £2,000. He has always been kept up to date with physio, vacs, worming, teeth and feet currently shod in front, barefoot behind.
