I've come to the difficult decision that Smudge (For Everyone, IRE) needs & deserves a new, more active home.
He finished his NH racing career in August '25 having fallen out of love with the game, and on the basis it was thought he'd appreciate a much quieter life, came to me in November '25. Tough as old boots, he retired sound & remains so.
As he's gained weight, relaxed & become settled it's become very clear that he actually has lots more to give, and needs more work/input than I have time to give.
He's clever, fit & well, sound and wants more than what is currently a very part time job.
I feel he needs a confident, experienced, knowledgeable home where his person has time to gently lead him into a less intense but still active and fun new life as a ridden horse.
He's essentially had around 6 months with me being built up, lightly hacked and gently schooled (currently by a capable 17yo jockey for whom he's being a poppet). We know he'll jump the moon, for now we're keeping it low key, teaching him there's no rush!
He's ready now to begin his proper re-education in the right hands. He's a bright, biddable horse with a typically quick TB brain and will thrive with a confident, capable, quiet jockey.
π³ Loves his turn-out but needs a cosy stable at night. No vices.
𧲠Holds onto his shoes on 4 good feet & a 6 week cycle. π½ Uncomplicated diet of mostly chaff.
π Loves attention and is quiet as a lamb for cuddles/scratches in the stable.
𧲠Good to catch, for the farrier, vet, physio etc.
π΄ Wardrobe of rugs and some tack also available.
