Mesbar (Milo) – 16.2hh Approx Gelding – RoR Eligible
Milo is a super kind, genuine gelding looking for a fun and knowledgeable home where he can continue his retraining and fulfil his potential.
He retired from racing sound with no injuries or vices and has enjoyed some downtime in the field to unwind before returning to ridden work. Milo is now back in work and proving to be a willing and enjoyable horse to produce.
He is shod in front, barefoot behind, loads and travels well, and has recently begun being introduced to coloured poles. We have not yet started hacking him as we would like him to become established in a consistent routine here before introducing another new experience, particularly as the yard is situated directly on a busy main road. He was trained in Newmarket and we have reason to believe he will have seen traffic in a string.
Milo is not a novice ride. He is naturally uphill, forward-going and enjoys his work, although he remains polite and rideable. He can be a little spooky about silly things such as birds and unexpected sights, but he is not malicious and doesn't look to cause trouble.
He has come to us for rehoming due to some nervousness around mounting, stemming from a bad experience during his racing career. When being legged up he can step away from the rider, and he may also move away from the mounting block. However, we are actively working on this and his confidence around the mounting block is improving all the time. Once mounted he settles immediately and does not display any nasty behaviour. He simply requires a confident, experienced rider who can continue building his confidence and helping him realise that being mounted is nothing to worry about.
We have been told by his trainer that when Milo is settled into a consistent routine he is a lovely horse, and we are already seeing signs of this as he continues to adapt to life after racing.
He is currently stabled at night and turned out during the day. In the field he is very much at the bottom of the pecking order and gets along well with other horses.
Milo has so much to offer and, in the right hands, will make a fantastic all-round riding horse. He is a lovely natured gelding who deserves a home willing to invest a little time and patience into him.
He is a big chunky substantial sort that wouldn't look out of place in the hunt field this coming winter.
Experienced homes only.
