To answer some of the most common questions; I'm selling as I'm beyond burnt out from project horses and am unable to give Figgy the commitments she needs. No, she is not ready to jump 1m+ course next weekend. Yes, she will be the perfect competition horse for someone when she is ready.
Maesmynach Locket, affectionately known as Figgy, is a 3yo (April 2023) Welsh D mare standing approx 15hh - 15.2hh. Figgy was bred by the famous Maesmynach stud with her dad being the handsome Deytheur Mr Terry. Her sire is known for producing flashy offspring that often come home in the ribbons in a wide variety of disciplines.
Figgy's personality is very much that of a typical Welsh - cheeky but so sweet and loving. She is so willing and eager to learn having loved all her adventures to date. With myself, she has been unphased by the process of starting her backing and is always more interested in going for an adventure. The most we've done is a very short hack at walk in a head collar and bareback. So far we have done some free schooling, lunging, long lining, and gradual introductions to bridles and saddles ready to progress her education beyond walk. She has free jumped and proven to be quite scopey with excellent built in springs. When ridden, she has been forward in the sense that she isn't going to plod, but she isn't about to run off with you either.
In her previous home, Figgy saw a lot of farm machinery. This has been evident during her time with me as there isn't many 3yo horses I would trust to take past lorries and tractors safely! I was also told she had done some horse agility and been to show. She was on her best behaviour and found it all rather enjoyable without being silly. Sadly I can't vouch for what Figgy is like out and about as we haven't had the opportunity to go out anywhere.
Due to personal circumstances, Figgy is regrettably in need of a new home. She is looking for someone to love and love her, able to progress her education, and give her the commitment that she deserves. She will truly be such an asset to anyone whether that be for breeding, happy hacking. riding school or competition. Please do get in touch if you think you're the right person for Figgy and that she is the right horse for you. I am willing to be flexible on the price to see her in the best of homes.
