"Joey" Spotted Gelding All Rounder

Joey – 7yo Appaloosa x Welsh Gelding | 14hh

Joey is a lovely 7-year-old Appaloosa x Welsh gelding, standing at approximately 14hh. He is a chunky, very well-boned type who takes up the leg nicely — I’m 5ft7 and don’t feel too big on him, and he definitely carries himself bigger when ridden.

Clean-limbed and vice-free

Up to date with farrier, vaccinations and worming

No history of kicking or biting

Open to any vetting

Joey has a great amount of experience for his age. He has been out to beach rides, XC hires and fun rides, including Badminton, as well as having done some low-level dressage tests and show jumping.

He is safe and confident hacking both alone and in company and is not spooky. On a recent beach trip, my competent novice partner rode him and Joey was absolutely foot perfect. He is good in open spaces and, although he is a responsive ride, he always has brakes.

Joey is proving to have a lovely jump and has comfortably cleared 80cm, with plenty of scope to progress further with the right rider. He genuinely enjoys his work and never gets fizzy when out or boxed around.

Joey’s personality is what makes him so special. He is a real people horse through and through and has the kindest, softest nature. He would much rather be in your arms than in his own space! He has been ridden by a range of ages and would suit a confident teenager or a mother-and-daughter share.

That said, Joey does need a confident rider and handler. If he feels he can get away with something, he will push boundaries, so for this reason he is not suitable for a novice home.

He is a lovely horse who really enjoys having a job and being involved, and I feel he has so much more to offer with the right person.

Home is extremely important to me for this special boy. He is only being offered for sale due to financial reasons, and I would love to find him a home where he will be loved and enjoyed as much as he has been here. ️
