A lovely, genuine 11-year-old registered Welsh Section D gelding looking for his next experienced home. He has been mainly used for hacking and absolutely loves his job. He hacks alone and in company, is excellent with traffic and all types of farm machinery, and is used to living around cows and sheep without batting an eyelid.
He is green in the school simply due to lack of time and opportunity rather than any fault of his own. He has popped a few small fences and ditches and has always shown himself to be willing and honest. He would suit someone looking for a fun all-round project to put their own stamp on.
He is a typical Welsh Cob with plenty of character. As is often the case with the breed, he can be strong under saddle and a little bolshy at times, so he is not suitable for a novice rider. However, there is no badness in him whatsoever – he has never kicked or bitten. He can occasionally be a little looky in new situations and may stop to have a think, but he does not bolt, buck or rear and is happy to go forward with a confident rider.
He is sound, has no health issues or ongoing maintenance, and is up to date with routine care. He is excellent for both the vet and the farrier and is easy to handle day to day.
To be completely honest, he is frightened of the trailer and loading is an area that will need work. He becomes very worried and nervous around the trailer and, because of this, can become strong. He will need an experienced and patient person with the time to continue building his confidence, or ideally a home where travelling isn't going to be a regular requirement.
This is a genuine and very difficult sale due to my own circumstances rather than any fault of his. I work with him entirely on my own and don't have the help needed to work through his loading issues or take him out to clinics or events. At home he is a pleasure, but asking him to load by myself when he is frightened isn't fair on either of us, and I feel he deserves a home where someone has the time and support to help him overcome this.
Finding him the right home is far more important than a quick sale. He would thrive with an experienced rider who enjoys hacking and would like to continue his education and bring out his full potential. Serious enquiries only, please.
