He is a super family pony. He lives with us on the farm and is handled by my daughter with everything from turning out, tacking up and loading.
My daughter hacks him out around the lanes on his own and rides him around our fields. He hacks out happily with others and goes first or last. He will ride and lead or be led. He does not react to traffic, including large vehicles.
He is easy to turn out and bring in, and safe in the field when poo picking or putting out hay. He is turned out with mares and geldings.
He has regularly attended Pony Club rallies at different venues. He has happily done flat work, pole work, jumping, pony club games. He has attended pony club camp where he did everything from games to cross country, standing to be plaited and waiting between rides.
He has ridden in outdoor schools and indoor schools both on his own, in small groups and large groups. He has ridden with both ponies and horses bigger than him safely and happily. We have taken him to unaffiliated jumping and unaffiliated dressage.
He is happy in the warm-up arena with others and happy going off on his own to enter the arena to ride the course or do his dressage test. He is happy to stay on the trailer whilst we walk the course. We have ridden Fawkes cross country and he’s been safe jumping jumps away from another pony and safe in the open space.
We have taken Fawkes to the woods and the beach and he has happily done everything asked of him, going through streams, jumping logs, cantering on tracks. He has stood still whilst others are cantering off and he is by himself. He has attended fun rides.
From my perspective as a parent, Fawkes has been trustworthy for Hannah to ride, to go out for a hack on their own, safe with others in an arena, on the beach, and navigating new things. Additionally, to this he can work in a lovely way with the ability to do a lovely dressage test.
Fawkes is truly part of the furniture here and if I let him walk straight in the house he would. We will really miss his easy-going attitude, willingness to learn and confidence to give things a go.
