Phantom — A Very Special Horse Looking for His Next Chapter

It is with an incredibly heavy heart that I offer my much-loved Phantom for sale. I have owned him for 9 years, and he has been a huge part of my life. This is not a decision I have taken lightly, but I have reached the stage where I am no longer able to do justice to such a capable and talented sports horse.

Phantom is a very pretty, beautifully mannered and exceptionally well-educated horse who has experienced an enormous amount during his life. He has been to shows, clinics, fun rides, camps, holidays and beach rides, and is a genuinely experienced traveller. He loads and travels well, is good for the farrier and is easy to catch. He has excellent stable manners and is a horse who has always been a pleasure to have around.

He was backed at 5 years old, so was a later starter, but this has given him time to mature and develop into the horse he is today. I have competed him to Novice level BD and up to 85cm show jumping. I have also done some cross-country, although it isn’t my favourite discipline — Phantom, on the other hand, seems to thoroughly enjoy it!

He is equally happy going out for a good hack and will happily go first or last. He has been everywhere from local outings to holidays and beach rides, and takes everything in his stride. He has a wonderful temperament and is generally a very kind, genuine horse, although he can be suspicious of new people until he gets to know them.

Like many good horses, Phantom has his quirks. He can have the occasional big spook, so I feel he would be best suited to a lightweight, younger, confident and sympathetic rider who can enjoy everything he has to offer. On other days he can be the world’s biggest plod — it really does depend which Phantom turns up!

I have not done as much with him this year due to rehabbing myself and having limited transport, but he has remained very much loved, cared for and in full work.

Phantom is currently barefoot, although he has been shod previously. He is completely up to date with everything vaccs dentist wormer physio chiro saddle check.

He is the sort of horse who has been my companion, teacher, adventure partner and friend, and finding him the right home is far more important to me than simply finding him a buyer. I would love to see him go to someone who will appreciate his experience, his ability and, most importantly, the wonderful character he is.

He has so much more to give to the right person and is ready for someone to continue his education and enjoy new adventures with him.
