Description

Ernie is a 13.1hh, 10 year old gelding. I have listed him as tri-coloured as we aren’t really sure what colour he is! He is a chunky type but with a nice amount of bone and slight feathering when unclipped, he is not your typical heavy cob. He has three lovely paces and would look the part in the show ring.

We bought Ernie in early July as a replacement for one of our riding school ponies that was due to retire. He was fairly low mileage before we bought him but had been schooled nicely ready to go on and do a job. Since being with us he has been used on both Novice and Advanced group and individual lessons, hacked out lots, including long hacks over the moors during the summer. We have used him in our jumping field with a full course of show-jumps, he has taken part in mounted games, pony days and our annual summer show.

He has three well established paces on both reins with correct transitions and will go in a lovely outline when asked. Jumping is not particularly his forte but he is very willing and always honest. His jumping has much improved with us, we believe it isn’t something he has ever done a great deal of previously hence why he still needs more time investing if this is something that would be required of him.

Ernie is great in the heaviest of traffic, he will hack alone or in company. He does tend to be more excitable in a large group but never does anything nasty or deliberate. He just likes to jog and wants get on with it! He is fantastic to do on the ground and is handled daily by our younger volunteers. He is good to catch, shoe, clip, worm, travel etc etc etc. Ernie is fully up to date with his flu and tetanus vaccinations, wormed and is currently shod in front as we do a lot of hacking over the summer months. He has never been sick or sorry whilst with us. He will live in or out and is good with others. Always snaffle mouthed, he is not strong.

Unfortunately, we feel that because Ernie can become excitable in a group setting, that a one to one home may be better for him. He has been golden whilst with us and hasn’t done anything wrong or nasty, but our ponies have to cope with a range of riders from lead rein through to our advanced riders and he prefers the faster paced lessons and is certainly happier when in a small group or on his own.

Ernie is a forward going but sensible pony who would make a fantastic pony club, riding club, fun pony for a child who doesn’t want a kick along but something fun and safe to enjoy various disciplines on. I have multiple videos available of him. No LWVTB, loans or time wasters please. 5* home only for this lovely boy.
