"Ciara" Dark Bay Mare Ex Racehorse

Pretty six-year-old dark bay tb mare. Last raced in August 2025, so fully RoR eligible. She does have some cosmetic blemishes from her past life.

Ciara is lightweight, elegant, friendly and inquisitive. She has lived out in a small herd over winter, and is definitely a lower ranking horse. She is barefoot; still transitioning but doing well. She had a growth spurt over winter and we recently measured her at 15.2 although as she’s a tb she’s got good withers, and rides a little smaller.

She has done lots of ground work, including lunging, long reining and natural horsemanship exercises. She has started jumping small jumps on the lunge. I have led her out in hand on the lanes and she has been very sensible about traffic. She has been to TAP clinics (thoroughbred aftercare program) where she has done some work on the flat and over trotting poles. I have taken her to a local show in hand.

She loads and travels OK – she didn’t when I got her. I’ve also introduced her to clippers & trimmers – a work in progress…

Seen by chiropractor, equine dentist, vaccinated, recent clear worm count.

I’m a mature lady rider and have had to admit that she’s got far more energy than I want these days, and needs a younger bolder rider to get her going with her ridden career. Also, I don’t have an arena to bring her on consistently which she needs.

Looking for an experienced, gentle, lightweight person for this sweet girl. Please, no nervous / novice / “once or twice a week” riders, she’s not for you!
