15-year-old, 13.2hh Arabian × British Riding Pony gelding
It is with a heavy heart that we are offering Ben for sale, as I now wish to pursue showjumping, which is not his strongest discipline. This is an extremely difficult decision, so we are in no rush and will only consider a genuine 5⭐ home.
Ben is a kind, affectionate pony with impeccable manners on the ground. He is a pleasure to handle, loves being groomed and fussed over, and will happily stand patiently for hours. He is easy to catch and enjoys human company.
Despite being 15 years old, Ben certainly doesn’t act his age and has plenty of energy and enthusiasm. He remains a forward, responsive and active pony and would suit a confident teenager or small adult looking for a fun, versatile pony. He is not suitable for a novice or inexperienced rider and would thrive with someone who is confident, sympathetic and enjoys a forward ride.
On the flat, Ben is working nicely into an outline in walk and trot, with his canter continuing to improve. He is responsive to the leg and has lovely potential in the right hands.
Ben has come a long way with his jumping since joining us almost three years ago, having had very little previous jumping experience. He is currently jumping 60–70cm and continues to improve. He takes confidence from his rider and benefits from a confident and positive approach to fences. If he feels his rider is nervous or unsure approaching a fence, he can lose confidence and refuse, so he is best suited to a rider who is confident over jumps.
He hacks happily both alone and in company and thoroughly enjoys getting out and about. He can become excited and forward when hacking, but is not nasty and is always manageable with a confident rider.
In his previous home, Ben had a successful showing career, including competing and being placed at Windsor. Although we have not focused on showing ourselves, we believe he would excel in this discipline once again. He also has lovely dressage potential with the right rider thanks to his quality movement and willing attitude.
Ben has enjoyed a varied life including:
* Cross-country schooling
* Beach rides
* Fun rides
* Schooling
* Regular hacking
He is generally good to load, however, he can get nervous in smaller/double trailers, so this is something we continue to practise with him.
Ben is:
* Fully shod
* Vaccinations up to date
* Dentist up to date
* Regularly wormed
* Good to catch and handle
* Experienced in a variety of activities and environments
Ben would thrive in a knowledgeable, loving home where he can continue to build confidence and enjoy a varied life. He has so much to offer the right person and deserves a home where he will be loved, appreciated and treated as one of the family.
