What does a driving volunteer do?
Do you enjoy driving and talking to people? Our volunteer drivers help us in a number of ways. They enable volunteers that can’t drive or don’t have access to a car to get from their home to the Carer’s home and back again. They can also help Carers take a break by transporting the person they look after to and from a day activity.
Where does the volunteering role usually take place?
Volunteers can choose which area/s they would be happy to drive to and can help out as little or as much as they are able.
Most volunteers do not usually do more than two regular local journeys per week.
What about costs of running my car?
We reimburse travel expenses at 45p per mile, this is to cover fuel and wear and tear on your vehicle.
How do I get on board?
You will need to complete an application form and attend an informal interview. You would then need to attend our Induction training day before you could begin. We also ask for the names of 2 people who can give you a reference.

We are in need of people in the Uckfield, Lewes & Bexhill areas.
Nimber is a community delivery service that matches items being sent with travellers going the same way. You post what you'd like to buy, and we notify bringers who travel that route. When someone can help they will make you an offer.
Once you receive an offer, arrange pickup and delivery times with the bringer, accept the offer and wait for your items to arrive at your door.
Your card is never charged until your item has been successfully delivered, and there is no cost for posting a request.
