We have created an exciting new opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to join our growing Rehabilitation Team at St Michael’s Hospice.
The focus of this role is to enable people with advanced, serious illness to live life as fully as possible until they die through optimising their functional and occupational independence, symptom management, coping and adapting strategies, and participation in meaningful activities.
Join us to be part of the innovative changes at St Michael’s Hospice, working closely with our Rehabilitation Lead, Physiotherapist, and Senior Occupational Therapist to achieve our ambitious plans to establish St Michael’s Hospice as a centre of excellence for Rehabilitative Palliative Care; a vision fully supported by our hospice leadership team.
As a successful candidate, you will be committed to developing your skills and knowledge to be able to provide holistic rehabilitative palliative care across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. We are seeking skills in holistic assessment, clinical reasoning, exceptional communication, and clinical experience from relevant settings. Palliative care experience is desirable but not essential as you will be working with experienced therapists specialised in palliative care rehabilitation.
We can offer you the opportunity to:
Develop a wide range of clinical skills and knowledge by supporting patients with complex respiratory, cardiac, neurological, oncological, and musculoskeletal conditions. Gaining valuable transferrable clinical experience in helping people better self-manage a variety of symptoms such as pain, breathlessness, fatigue, and reduced mobility/function. Access experienced supervision, mentoring, and coaching support from senior therapists. Learn from working with Rebecca Tiberini, a national leader in Rehabilitative Palliative Care. Work in close collaboration with our supportive team of multidisciplinary clinicians across nursing, medicine, social work, spiritual support and bereavement services. Optimise peoples’ wellbeing and rehabilitation in our beautiful hospice gardens with sea view.
