Background to the job
Support worker required for a 7 year old boy who has an Autistic Spectrum condition and severe Epilepsy. He is a happy, sociable and lively boy. You will be required to support with a variety of activities out in the community and at home, to give his Dad a break from his caring role. This post requires constant supervision and vigilance as he has challenging behaviour.
It is important that he has structure and routine in all aspects of his life that if deviated from can cause him to present challenging behaviours that may place himself or others at risk.
Hours / Times of Work
Up to 16 hours, to be discussed at interview as well as Saturday’s
Rates of Pay and other Benefits
£8.00 per hour
Main Duties and Responsibilities
For him to be supported outside of the family home by someone who is familiar to him and is trained to meet his health needs and would support him in participating in activities and experiences outside of the family home. After a period of getting to know him and to gain his trust.
He is reliant upon structure and routine in all aspects of his life, if routine is deviated away from it can lead to distress and frustration and prolonged incidents of self harm and attempts to injure others. During these times he requires a minimum of 1:1 support to prevent him from placing himself or others at risk.
It is IMPORTANT that you meet ALL the Essential Requirements BEFORE you apply for the job.
Experience with working with children with special needs, Epilepsy and Challenging Behaviour and a good understanding of Autism and how to remain calm at ALL times.
Car driver with business insurance, can be applied for on successful interview

The jobs is advertised on an employed basis (i.e. it is not relevant for self-employment). Successful applicants will be required to provide a P45 or complete a P46 which will be forwarded to HM Revenue and Customs to ensure that appropriate tax and national Insurance deductions can be made.
You must be legally entitled to work in the UK. This will be checked as part of the application process.
