Description

I am a young adult living in my own home within a small community that has been purpose built to allow me to live amongst other like minded young adults. I have autism and a learning disability as well as other associated mental health needs. To allow me to live my life as independently as possible and live a quality life, I require the support of 2 people to keep me safe and support me during the day. I require support with my personal care, medication and daily living tasks which will include looking after my home. I enjoy travelling to different voluntary activities, where I offer my support. I have a close family who play an active part in my support. I visit the cinema 3 times per week and I enjoy various different sports, visiting theme parks, eating out and I like to be kept occupied with activities every day. I am, therefore, looking for a team to help me access the community and develop my skills within my home and out of it. You would be required to communicate with me slowly and clearly, giving me time to understand you. You need to be patient, proactive and able to work as part of a team. You will need to be a driver as I have my own motability car You will need to be skilled to support me through any challenging times. Although experience in supporting others with autism or a learning disability would be advantageous this is not essential as full training will be provided which will be ongoing with continuous support. You will be required to work approximately 37 hours per week. (4 days on and 4 days off) and some weekend work is required. The support is during the day from 9am – 6pm (one/two shifts per week would start at 7am) and there is a one hour meeting per week. The rate of pay is £13.15/hour, with 28 days holiday worked out pro-rata included. Bank holidays are paid at time and a quarter. You will be employed by Solo Support Services but will also work closely with the family. After a successful 3 months and probation period you will be eligible for the Gov pension scheme with Solo.
