Hi, my name is Kat and I started my ‘In The Doghouse’ mobile grooming business in 2014 as a result of making the exciting (and scary) decision to change my career path in 2013. I am now a qualified groomer and am delighted to spend my days meeting so many wonderful canine characters.
I have grown up surrounded by animals from cats and dogs, hamsters, rabbits and guinea pigs to budgies and parrots, through farmyard animals such as horses and chickens to the exotic weird and wonderful such as tree frogs and African millipedes. My very first job was working in a pet shop where I spent a few years specialising in the management of the reptilian department. I also undertook socialising puppies for Hearing Dogs for the Deaf charity until other life commitments took over.
I have now decided to re-focus my career on what makes me happy and that is working with animals. I take a lot of pride in my work and make sure the dogs have a wonderfully positive experience and the owners are completely happy with the service I provide.
The mobile grooming service I provide is completely for your convenience. I have full public liability insurance and will attend any location you desire, be that home or work, to groom your fluffy friend. On average most full grooms can take a couple of hours so that gives you the opportunity to pop out and run a few errands while your dog gets their bath and pamper session if you so desire. I like to ensure that each dog gets the correct amount of time required so no groom is ever rushed. I offer day, evening and weekend appointments (availability permitting) - please note that appointments can get booked up well in advance so booking in good time is always recommended. I cater for breed and domestic/pet cuts and will happily modify cuts to your specification.
My van contains all equipment necessary to carry out any grooming requirements and soon I will have a generator on board meaning I will no longer have to plug in to customers electricity points and so will be completely self contained. Inside the van is a high specification hydrobath with an inbuilt 140 litre tank so I am able to carry all the water necessary for the baths and there is also a top of the range electric grooming table and blaster.
I require all new customers to fill out a contact and health form prior to grooming your dog so I always take a little longer for first appointments to allow for this and a grooming consultation to ensure you have the opportunity to communicate any specific grooming requirements. Also this extra time allows me to get to know your dog and make sure they are completely at ease with the process.
The health and happiness of the dogs in my care is my main concern so I will never continue with a grooming process should your dog demonstrate signs of distress. I do carry muzzles but will only use them if pre-warned of a dogs predisposition to being snappy or if I am left feeling in the position it is best for my own safety. In the case of any dog showing obvious signs of aggression I will be forced to abandon the groom at whatever stage necessary and will contact the owner in relation to this, unfortunately this may mean that on rare occasions I can no longer accept the dog for further grooming bookings.
