This attractive, elegant pair of matching high backed chairs are unusual as they were made of American stained walnut in the late Victorian or early Edwardian period, when the use of mahogany was prolific. The chairs are very decorative, slim pieces which look particularly nice in a hallway.
This is a reluctant private sale of these much loved items which were originally purchased new by my family from Norman & Stacey Limited in Tottenham Court Road just before the premises closed down in 1905.
The chairs are in good antique condition, with a few small dents and marks commensurate with their age. They have a lovely patina. Both of the items being offered for sale here are free from woodworm, and neither of them have damaged or repaired components. These items are from a pet and smoke free home.
The chairs have had their small areas of fabric removed from their seats and head rests, so they are ready for upholstery by whoever purchases them. This will be quite an easy, straightforward job and requires very little new material. The need for this work to be done on the chairs has been reflected in the advertised sale price, which is for the pair as they are being sold as one lot.
Please study the photographs provided to make your own assessment regarding the condition of these items. I would be happy to send more photographs if necessary to serious potential buyers.
The size of each chair is: Height (to top of head rest) approximately 108 cm. Width (between right and left edges) approximately 42 cm. Depth (between front and back edges) approximately 40 cm.
Buyer to collect, and pay cash on collection please. Regret no returns accepted. Thank you.

Nimber is a community delivery service that matches items being sent with travellers going the same way. You post what you'd like to buy, and we notify bringers who travel that route. When someone can help they will make you an offer.
Once you receive an offer, arrange pickup and delivery times with the bringer, accept the offer and wait for your items to arrive at your door.
Your card is never charged until your item has been successfully delivered, and there is no cost for posting a request.
