Do you enjoy a cup of tea and a chat? Looking at old photographs, playing board games, doing jigsaw puzzles? Going for a walk or visiting a garden centre? Do you have a few hours to spare each week? We are looking for volunteers to become carers companions. We try to make sure that we match each volunteer with someone that shares similar interests, giving the relationship the best opportunity to be beneficial and long lasting. Volunteer visitors befriend the cared for person and the carer in their own home, usually once a week on the same day and at the same time for around three hours.
Sometimes it is difficult for the carer to go out and leave the person they look after, because they have personal care needs, for example, needing assistance to go to the toilet.
The volunteer may spend time with the cared for person while the carer has a lie down, spends time in the garden or enjoys any other activity that can take place in the home environment. This means that if the person they look after needs support with their personal care needs, the volunteer can easily let the carer know.
Sometimes the carer would really like to be able to go out with the person they look after, but are unable to do this without support.
The volunteer will be able to take the carer and the person they look after out. This might be to a garden centre, the cinema, theatre or for a meal. This could be during the day, in the evening or at the weekend.
We provide full training and reimburse expenses.
We are looking for Volunteers in the Hastings and Bexhill-on-sea area now.
Nimber is a community delivery service that matches items being sent with travellers going the same way. You post what you'd like to buy, and we notify bringers who travel that route. When someone can help they will make you an offer.
Once you receive an offer, arrange pickup and delivery times with the bringer, accept the offer and wait for your items to arrive at your door.
Your card is never charged until your item has been successfully delivered, and there is no cost for posting a request.
