Looking for 1 or 2 carers. During term time 3 days after school and Saturdays or Sundays, flexible for the right candidate. Plus extra days during school holidays to be arranged to suit both parties. For someone looking for additional hours extra hours will be available to cover other carers' holidays and sickness as well as evening babysitting.

Exciting opportunity to join our team of PAs looking after our lovely 18 year old young man who has tuberous sclerosis. As a result he has autism, severe learning disability and complex epilepsy. You will provide personal and practical care and support him to take part in activities he enjoys. He is non verbal with a developmental age of around 2 so needs someone who can relate with him at his level.

He is a happy and cheeky teenager and has a great sense of humour as well as an amazing smile that never fails to get PAs on his side! He is very rewarding to look after and forms close bonds with his PAs, most of whom stay with us for at least 2 years and then remain in touch for years afterward.

He needs 1:1 and requires support with all aspects of personal care (though he is toilet trained) and to keep him safe when he has a seizure but particularly to have lots of fun and enjoy himself. The type of care involved includes support with eating and toileting, ensuring he takes his medication, and bathing/brushing teeth if putting him to bed. The most important part is to enable him to do the things he enjoys and have lots of fun!

You will be committed to providing an excellent level of care and be a fun and enthusiastic person with a can do attitude. We're looking for people who take a very proactive view of caring and interact lots with the person they care for.

Experience: minimum 1 year working with children or young people/adults with learning disability and autism. Experience of epilepsy desirable but not essential as full training is given. You must be comfortable dealing with challenging behaviour and understand how to prevent it. We offer lots of training in all aspects of caring for him and support you on a day to day basis either ourselves or via an additional PA.

You must have a driving license, speak excellent English, be fit and healthy and not easily phased.
