We’re looking for someone to join our friendly Volunteering and Communities team as Community Volunteering Coordinator.
This role will involve forming partnerships with local volunteering organisations to offer placements, delivering training for Community Volunteering Electives and providing support for both students and the university's School of Education and Social Work throughout the placement process.
We are very excited to be delivering a new Elective Module in conjunction with the School of Education and Social Work, allowing University of Sussex students to undertake volunteering placements in the local community.
Students can take two Elective Modules - open to most single honours students in first and second year - called ‘Exploring Community Engagement and Volunteering’ and ‘Promoting Community Engagement and Volunteering’, allowing them to dedicate time to a volunteering placement within their studies, and gain more experience and skills related to their academic pursuits. We welcome applications from everyone, including but not exclusive to; postgraduates, people with an ethnic minority or Chinese background, people with a disability, people with dependants, and people who identify as LGBTQ+. We conduct anonymous shortlisting and all of our interview panels have Unconscious Bias Training in order to support the above. We also consider flexible working for those with care commitments. If you have any suggestions as to how we could improve our language or application process please let us know.

Nimber is a community delivery service that matches items being sent with travellers going the same way. You post what you'd like to buy, and we notify bringers who travel that route. When someone can help they will make you an offer.
Once you receive an offer, arrange pickup and delivery times with the bringer, accept the offer and wait for your items to arrive at your door.
Your card is never charged until your item has been successfully delivered, and there is no cost for posting a request.
