Most people associate job interview nerves with the interviewee, and much advice can be found for them -
but giving a job interview can be just as much of a daunting prospect. It can be very difficult to come up with
suitable questions to ask in interview situations. Here are a few tips for interviewing for the much-neglected job
interviewer to help you become skilled at how to interview your prospective employees.
Giving an interview requires good communication skills as you will have to gather as much information from a candidate
as possible in a short space of time. An interviewee will tell you more if they don't feel intimidated, so one of the
top tips for interviewing is to try and make your interviewee feel at ease -this way you will learn more about them.
Ensure that you have a good idea in your head or in front of you of the qualities and abilities which you are seeking in a good candidate.

Sometimes you learn more from letting the interviewee speak for themselves for a while, and they will feel more comfortable

On their skills:
What do you see as your main strengths? And your weaknesses?
Why should I give you the job?
What are the qualities which you could bring to the job?
On their ambitions/motivation:
Where do you see yourself in ten years time?
What do you hope to gain from working here?
What gets you motivated?
Do you get satisfaction from completing certain tasks?
On their previous employment:
What made you leave your previous job?
What skills or experiences have you gained through your previous job(s)?
How well do they know the job they are applying for?:
Why do you want to work at this company?
What do you think of the service(s)/product(s) we supply?
Can you think of any way you would improve them?
Teamwork:
Do you like working in a team?
What are the qualities needed in a team leader?
Finally - can they think on their feet? Throw in a question to see if they can come up with a sensible answer on the spot:
