Registered new in Jersey in July 1968, this is one of only a handful of examples of this rare car registered in the Channel Islands, where it remained until 2014. Supplied by the main agents at the time, Cleveland Garages of St Hilier, the salesman still recalls demonstrating the car at the customers house and taking the order in the summer of 1968.
The first owner, a Mr Denton, kept the motor car and following his death the car accordingly passed to his son. Mr . Denton Jnr, did eventually sell the car to a clearly discerning knowledgeable gentleman, in whose custody the car was maintained and cherished until he decided to sell it in late 2014.
To support this provenance, the detailed history file contains the original Buff Logbook and new log book showing this extremely limited ownership. Furthermore, the car has only covered 38000 miles from new which is supported by the history file and the original Passport to Service Book.
In 1988/89, when the car was some 20 Years old, the original owner, Mr Denton senior, decided to have the 'C' renovated. He entrusted this work to the marquee specialist's Naylor Brothers who then, over a 8 month period, fastidiously brought the 'C' up to what was described in detailed correspondence as 'concourse' condition.
What is clear from the correspondence is that what started as a quote for £4500 worth of work ended up with a total invoice of just shy of £14000, and that was in 1989! At today's prices that would be nearly treble that.
