We need men and women volunteers to visit children in care, in and around the Surrey area. We ask for a commitment of 2 years and visit once per month. We provide training, support and expenses. We take up references and DBS checks. Volunteers need to have access to a car.
What is an independent visitor?
A volunteer who visits, befriends and advises children in care who are looked after by Surrey County Council and live in foster care or residential homes.
Who needs an independent visitor?
Children and young people usually aged between 10 and 17 who do not have regular contact with a family member or where they would benefit from a regular visitor. Children are from all cultures and backgrounds.
What happens on a visit?
Anything that you both enjoy, from window shopping and fast food to dog walking, ice skating or rock climbing.
