Auditioning for drama school and need help selecting drama pieces? Or perhaps you've always wanted to try your hand at acting, either for fun or to build your confidence? Do you need to improve your communication skills, or to prepare for an interview?
My name is Kate and I am a professional actor with more than thirty years experience working in theatre, film & TV. You can check out some of my credits on the Spotlight web page: http://www.spotlight.com/interactive/cv/7819-9089-0189
I have been coaching both students and professional actors for more than ten years. A number of my students have gained places at leading drama schools including RADA, LAMDA, Guildhall, Bristol Old Vic School, Oxford School of Drama, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, American Academy of Dramatic Arts (New York), New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, Arts Educational, Birmingham School of Drama, Mountview, Rose Bruford, East 15, ALRA and Drama Studio London.
Here is are testimonials from some of my students:
'Kate's coaching style is personable, engaging and focussed. I felt myself grow in awareness both of myself and as an auditionee approaching text and character. Kate facilitated a realisation of the importance of truth when performing a text. As a result of the learning I experienced and took on board during sessions with Kate, I had final recalls at the top drama schools in the country. What is more, I have secured a place on the post-graduate course at the Oxford School of Drama recently rated one of the top two drama schools in the country.' Lucy Timmons
‘Really truly couldn't have done it without her, what a life saver. She installed great clarity and confidence in my performances which really I couldn't have got in without.’
Millie Corser ( Bristol Old Vic School)
I had auditioned for some drama schools before working with Kate with no luck. From my first meeting I felt comfortable and encouraged, Kate had so many practical suggestions of courses and monolgogues and managed to pick out my bad habits that were getting in the way so that I was aware of them. She also instilled in me a sense of confidence and assuredness that was so integral to feeling ready and comfortable in the audition process, whilst keeping me working hard to free the speeches. Kate's awareness of how the courses differed, from having many past students on them currently, was really useful and choosing monologues with her felt collaborative and inventive. I found pieces perfectly suited to me but with such range so that I felt as confident in them as i did in my ability to be trained. I now have a place at Oxford School of Drama but working with Kate has also helped me with auditioning for work.
Bryony Reiss (Postgraduate entry Oxford School of Drama)
