Sussex Recruitment are working closely with their client who run a very reputable nursery based in Hove. They are currently recruiting for a Nursery Supervisor to join their small and friendly team.
To supervise the Toddler Unit on a daily basis in accordance with the requirements of Company Policy, the Children’s Act 1989 (and as updated 2006), the Care Standards and OFSTED requirements Assist the Manager in ensuring that all agreed Company Policies and procedures are implemented in the nursery at all times, to ensure the safety, security and well-being of all children within the Unit Support and develop all staff, as appropriate, working within the Unit Ensure that planning of activities is in line with the EYFS framework.
Assume overall responsibility for the day to day running of the Toddler Unit, recognising any need for improvements or additional resources, sharing information or any concerns with those appropriate and working alongside staff to make changes if necessary. Assist the Manager in ensuring the effective provision of care within the nursery Take a lead on encouraging and role modelling good practice Praise and recognise each staff members contribution with regard to individual and group work within the setting. Observe and support each child’s progression and report on achievements, support all other key-workers ensuring observations and profiles are in place looking for progression and continuity of care. Involve all Toddler Unit staff in preparing short term planning for the children and ensure that this is being delivered. Encourage creativity and sharing ideas between all of the team. Be responsible for creating and replenishing a stimulating and attractive nursery environment Ensure responsibility for SEN is being fulfilled within the Unit In conjunction with the Manager, ensure that standards, ratios and conditions of the registration are met at all times In the absence of the Manager/Co-Manager, assist the designated senior member of staff on the managements behalf, liaising with parents and any relevant outside agencies. Assist with the preparation for OFSTED inspections and support all team members to action recommendations made by the Inspector Assist with the organisation of and attend parent’s meetings and open days on a regular basis. Ensure parents are encouraged to attend progress meetings and that all members of staff have up to date and relevant information on each child’s development and are able to produce 2/3 progress reports per year. Ensure the Company’s Equal Opportunity/Inclusion Policy is adhered to at all times Assist in completion of the Quality Assurance Scheme
Ensure that the Unit is appropriately staffed at all times Ensure staff receive appropriate mentoring, Identifying any training needs and supporting staff in accordance with their individual needs. Recognising key strengths within the team and deploying staff effectively. Carry out supervisions and appraisal of Level 1 Keyworkers and NVQ Trainees Assist with the interviewing of candidates, training, motivation and development of staff within the Unit, taking into account Company Policy and all statutory requirements, to enable staff to fulfil the provisions of their job description Remain approachable and supportive whilst maintaining a supervisory role and encouraging staff to work as part of a competent, efficient team, identifying and addressing any issues professionally and adhering to company policy. Assist with the organisation of, and attend, regular staff meetings and training sessions, ensuring staff are kept up to date with changes to company policy or procedure and OFSTED requirements
Health & Safety
Ensure the highest standards of safety, security, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times within the Unit in line with Company Policy and procedure In absence of Manager/ Co-Manager, ensure that all security and safety systems are fully operational and used consistently by all staff Ensure children are encouraged to develop their self help skills and become independent whilst practicing good hygiene at all times Check parental medication instructions for any children within the Unit and ensure medicines are administered in line with parent consent and company policy Regularly check the Unit Accident Book for recurring accidents/incidents Regularly check the First Aid Box contents and arrange for stocks to be replenished Contribute to regular review of Risk Assessments Be familiar with all emergency and security procedures e.g. Fire Drill, dropping off and collecting routines Report any concerns with regard to Health and Safety
